Improve Health Outcomes, Increase Quality & Lower Costs

The young woman quoted above was very ill.  She suffered from multiple conditions including severe anemia, heart failure and was approaching end stage renal disease.  She was on disability, seeing multiple specialists and receiving care weekly for her multiple conditions .  She was hospitalized nearly once per month due to the severe anemia.  Total annual charges for her medical and pharmacy claims were averaging over $1,000,000.

Her employer hired Lockton as the advisor to their self-funded health plan.  Lockton’s Clinical Team identified the opportunity for specialist evaluation and care coordination at Mayo Clinic - Jacksonville through our Complex Care Program.  Our Case Manager introduced the program to the member and facilitated her enrollment.  During the initial treatment, Mayo Clinic identified the root cause of her anemia and was able to successfully treat her.

Due to their treatment at the Mayo Clinic and the care coordination with Lockton's Clinical Team, she has returned to work part-time, her admissions have been greatly reduced and her claims have decreased.  Her return to work has also created a sense of normalcy.  Her annual treatments are now tracking $820,000 less per year following Mayo Clinic’s treatment and Lockton coordination.
